Homeless Assistance Program (J-HAP)
Alaska Housing Finance Corporation along with the Mental Health Trust Authority provides funds to local service providers for emergency or transitional housing.
Persons who require assistance with rental, mortgage, or utility payments on an emergency, short-term basis can contact the J-HAP program for help. In Juneau, the J-HAP program is administered by Alaska Housing Development Corporation at the Greuning Park Apartment complex.

The services provided may include:
- Eviction, deposits, mortgage foreclosure, or utility payments
- Legal Service to avoid eviction
- Counseling in basic planning and family budgeting
- Advocacy referral needed to resolve problems with landlords and mortgage companies
- A follow-up every 90 days for one year
- A signed Release of Information for client and landlord
From January 1st, 2008 through January 31st, 2009 the J-HAP program fielded 745 inquires for eviction prevention assistance, utility assistance, and move-in deposits. During this timeframe 110 people received assistance; 49 with move-in deposits and 61 with utility assistance. A total of $80,000 was distributed to Juneau residents in the form of these payments.
