FIRST<\/em>\u00ae<\/em><\/sup><\/span><\/span> is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization devoted to helping young people discover and develop a passion for science, engineering, technology, and math. Founded over 30 years ago, there have been over 3.2 million youth patricipants since its inception in 1989. the 2015-2016 FIRST<\/em>\u00ae<\/em><\/sup><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/em>season attracted more than 400,000 youth and more than 200,000 Mentors, Coaches, and Volunteers from 80+ countries. Teams, including Coaches, Mentors, and Volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles.
