Keynote SpeakerBenton Moore, CEO of Sea Dragon CapitalBenton Moore is a cleantech entrepreneur turned angel investor, climate ambassador, and startup raconteur. He currently serves as Fund Manager of the San Diego Angel Conference, Strategy Consultant to the Brink Innovation Center at University of San Diego, and CEO of Sea Dragon Capital, a fund for early-stage, scalable technologies. Benton embraces the chaos of startups and the rebels and renegades who innovate to forge positive change. Benton’s most recent cleantech startup was acquired by private equity firm Oaktree Capital. Benton earned his JD and MBA (New Venture Management) from University of San Diego as well as specialties in International Law from Trinity College, Dublin and Strategic Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Benton is active in the startup ecosystem via San Diego Venture Group (Connect), Tech Coast Angels, United Nations Global Compact, San Diego Entrepreneurs Exchange, Angel Capital Association, TiE Global, Association of Corporate Counsel, MIT Enterprise Forum, and Southern California Energy Innovation Network. In an adventurous change-making career of over $100M in deals, Benton’s proudest accomplishment is coaching his daughter’s undefeated soccer team. Outside the office, Benton is usually hiking, mountain biking, or downhill skiing. |

He serves as an advisory committee member at the 49th State Angel Fund, leads the 2019 cycle of the Alaska Angel Conference, and is a member of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Intellectual Property Advisory Committee (IPAC). Prior to co-founding 9Mile Labs he was a serial entrepreneur who had co-founded five startups, two of which (Lostpedia, Jupiter Hosting) were successfully acquired. Kevin is a technologist and enterprise architect with hands-on experience with a broad range of Internet technologies, data center infrastructure, and development tools. Kevin holds an MBA from the University of Washington, Foster School of Business. |

Angel Investing ExpertWill Fowler, Founder, Signal Rock CapitalWill spent the first ten years of his career as a professional actor. Since shifting focus to the startup economy, he’s gained both operational and leadership experience working inside startups. His roles have included Business Development, Product Management, and most recently, Chief Operating Officer of an e-commerce startup. Will also works with the Idaho Small Business Development Center as the Associate State Director of Operations, creating new programs and partnerships that assist in the development of entrepreneurs and capital formation. Before founding Signal Rock Capital, Will spent spent six years working with Boise Angel Alliance and Loon Creek Capital, where he and his team raised five member managed funds, an Angel Investing Conference, and multiple syndicate funds and SPVs. He’s been an intern, screening committee chair, fund administrator, due diligence facilitator, SPV administrator, and investor in multiple funds. Will also serves as an Angel Capital Association (ACA) pitch coach for the National Conference, and is part of the ACA Membership Committee. |

Alaska Angel Conference 2020The Innovation Summit boot camp is designed in conjunction with the Alaska Angel Conference to increases the number of angel investors in the statewide startup ecosystem. The Alaska Angel Conference by pairs experienced angel investors with novice investors and leads them through a structured 10-week process of identifying, filtering, selecting, and managing a group angel investment. In the process, the conference helps nurture the companies and mentor the founders who apply for funding and award a $50K to $300K investment into one of the startups that apply. |
