SREC has been awarded limited funding under the Homeowner Assistance Fund. Funding for the Senior Access Program has not yet been released for 2026.
Safe & Sound Se Alaska: Homeowner Assistance Funding and Senior Access Funding.
JEDC is proud to offer Safe & Sound SE Alaska, a program that helps Southeast Alaska residents stay safe, healthy, and independent in their homes.
Through two funding programs—the Senior Access Program (SAP) and the Housing Assistance Fund (HAF)—eligible households may receive help paying for home accessibility improvements or critical home repairs. The HAF eligible homes also qualify for Homeowner Payment Assistance associated with long term covid-19 pandemic hardships.
The JEDC Senior Access Program and Homeowner Assistance Fund will serve the communities of Southeast Alaska: Yakutat, Skagway, Haines, Gustavus, Juneau, Sitka, Angoon, Hoonah, Pelican, Wrangell, Petersburg, Ketchikan, Metlakatla, POW, and Hyder. For home repairs, community contractors will provide bids for work to be completed in the region. Each approved participant will complete an intake application and income verification process to determine eligibility for program. Initial approval will support an home assessment to determine the proper scope of practice needed to support the applicant request.
